At Quora Group, we believe in building more than just structures; we’re dedicated to building careers and fostering a strong connection with our local community. Our commitment to apprenticeships is at the heart of this philosophy, and we’re passionate about nurturing the next generation of skilled professionals in the MEP services industry.
We don’t just talk about apprenticeships; we invest in them. Our apprenticeship program is designed to provide hands-on experience, valuable skills, and a clear pathway to a successful career. We’re proud to offer our apprentices the opportunity to work on real, local contracts, installing and maintaining vital building services. From schools and hospitals to offices and community centres, our apprentices are involved in projects that make a real difference in the lives of people in our area. This practical experience, coupled with structured training and mentorship from experienced professionals, ensures that our apprentices develop the expertise and confidence they need to thrive.
This commitment to our apprentices extends beyond the worksite. This year, we marked Apprenticeship Week (10-16 February) with a truly unique and inspiring event: the Apprentice Military Challenge! In partnership with NEAAN and supported by their amazing ambassadors, our apprentices, along with colleagues from ten other businesses, took part in a day of military-style activities at the Army Reserves Centre at Napier Armoury in Gateshead.
35 apprentices and eight colleagues embraced the challenge, donning green coveralls and applying camouflage cream to fully immerse themselves in the experience. The day was designed to inspire, test, and challenge participants while building confidence and teamwork skills. Our apprentices engaged in a range of activities, including a shooting contest, military comms training using VHF manpack radios, a planning exercise, a command task, and fieldcraft training. The Apprentice Military Challenge was more than just a fun day out. It provided our apprentices with valuable opportunities to develop essential skills such as teamwork, communication, leadership, and resilience – qualities that we nurture and value at Quora Group.
We believe that early engagement is key to inspiring the next generation. That’s why Quora Group actively participates in local school career fairs and workshops. We’re passionate about sparking an interest in MEP services among young people, showcasing the exciting and rewarding career opportunities available in our industry. We demonstrate the practical applications of science and technology, highlighting how these skills translate into tangible, real-world contributions. We aim to break down stereotypes and show students that a career in MEP services is not only challenging and fulfilling but also offers excellent prospects for the future.
We’re incredibly proud of our apprentices and the contributions they make to our company and the wider community. They are the future of Quora Group, and we’re committed to supporting them every step of the way. By combining hands-on experience on local contracts, unique team-building experiences like the Apprentice Military Challenge, and proactive engagement in schools, we’re not just building buildings; we’re building futures. We believe that investing in people and our community is the most important thing we can do, and we’re excited to continue this important work for many years to come.
